WinRAR is a really fast and efficient file compressor
Winrar is a free application that offers us the possibility to compress and unpack any file in a very easy and comfortable way and it doesn’t take a long time to do it. The program integrates itself perfectly in the right-button menu, so you will be able to create RAR and ZIP files with no problems, just right-clicking the file -or group of files- and select the ‘Add to archive’ option.
No matter the format of the compressed file, you’ll be able to unpack more than 40 different formats, including CAB, ARJ, LZH, TAR, GZ, ACE, UUE, BZ2, JAR, ISO, RAR, Zip or 7Z, you’ll only have to double-click its icon and the content of the file will appear on the screen, then choose whether to unpack it or run the files without having to unpack it previously. Furthermore, Winrar offers a very good compression ratio above the average, which means the files you compress using it will be smaller than when compressed using other programs. Finally, you can also protect files using Rijndael (AES-128) encryption system, digital signature or protect it against modifications.
Winrar is probably the best compression tool out there. The high quantity of options, as well as its versatility and easiness of use, make it a must-have for any user.
To wrap it up, WinRAR remains the industry-standard in the compression category. It tackles popular compression formats via an approachable interface and a complex engine that can easily be accessed from the context menu.

What’s new:
– Both file and folder modification timestamps are restored when unpacking TAR and TAR based archives like tar.gz and tar.bz2. Previously only file modification timestamps were set for these archive formats.
– Added decompression of .tar.zst archives with dictionary exceeding 128 MB. WinRAR 6.20 allowed such dictionary for .zst, but not for .tar.zst.
– Switches -ed and -e+d are also supported by ZIP archives. Previously they worked only for RAR archives.
Fixed:
– If unencrypted file was stored after encrypted in the same RAR archive and both files had been unpacked in the same extraction command, WinRAR 6.20 failed to unpack the unencrypted file;
– In some cases a wrong detailed reason of file open error could be displayed in the second line of open error message.
